On July 12th, at Shifuku in Kagurazaka, the "Tanabata: Traditional Japanese Music Concert" was held.
In a lovely tatami room, we performed and talked for about an hour for our guests, shared a meal together, and then returned home. It made me feel that koto and shamisen are best enjoyed in a traditional tatami setting. It must have been in such spaces that people in the past enjoyed dance, singing, and music.
Even though wearing a summer kimono (ro) was hot, we had a very enjoyable time with our guests. It's wonderful when a place provides a proper listening event rather than just background music during a meal.
"Shifuku" has a wonderful atmosphere and serves delicious food, so I highly recommend visiting if you have the chance!
